Vinted Members Voice Anger About Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Response
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
