Iran is prepared to reinitiate nuclear discussions with Washington provided that it is approached with "dignity" and "honor", Tehran's top diplomat has stated.

Abbas Araghchi said exclusively dialogue worked, and disclosed fresh requests had come from mediators to reopen negotiations with the Trump administration. He claimed Iran possessed no unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran had not yet reached a point to authorize the International Atomic Energy Agency to access attacked atomic facilities for security reasons.

Navigating a Complex Route

The foreign minister is walking a complex path since Iran wishes not to be seen to be proceeding from a stance of weakness, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had come out stronger militarily and psychologically from the Israeli-US attack on its enrichment centers in June.

He was talking at a defense forum in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to enrich uranium on home soil that it will always maintain" – the primary cause of the impasse in the prior discussions.

Prior Discussions Abruptly Ended

The earlier sessions of negotiations between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and hostile end on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, targeted Iranian nuclear sites in a 12-day war that concluded with the US president declaring the facilities had been obliterated. Subsequently, EU nations employed their authority to restore international penalties, but Iran maintains they have not had a substantial consequence.

Magic Solution Suggested

Tehran representatives said they felt they had reached a "magic solution" to the enrichment issue in previous talks, when it was agreed an Iran-based consortium with US participation could process nuclear material. Each party would have been able to claim victory since domestic enrichment would have continued and the US could be certain that Iran's nuclear programme was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been agreed in the talks that American atomic experts could function within Iranian territory, but that was a reasonable assumption of the partnership suggestion. Representatives stated on multiple occasions they had reached agreement with Washington's diplomat the US official only for the arrangement to disintegrate due to "spoilers in Washington".

Existing Position

Iranian officials stated the consortium offer was now withdrawn, but it seems quite possible the suggestion could be reintroduced in certain ways if discussions reopen.

Trump in recent days said he had been getting signals that Iran wanted to restart talks, but in private Iranian officials say they are not yet receiving consistent overtures from America either straightforwardly or from key regional mediators, such as Qatar, the Egyptian leadership, Oman and the Saudi kingdom. The Iranian foreign ministry has been criticized of non-responsiveness in the wake of Trump's direct instinctive approach, but Tehran says diplomacy is not part of a spectacle.

Political Position

In his remarks to the gathering, aimed to portray the US as a controlling nation that misuses the idea of international law, Araghchi stated the two-week conflict demonstrated the conflict could not be resolved by armed force. He asserted the assaults started with a Washington's ultimatum for an total Iran submission and concluded with an unconditional call for a halt to hostilities.

Iran is certain the first strikes by Israel were carried out with complete American awareness and collaboration, making trust hard to reestablish.

Negotiations Continues the Ultimate Resolution

The foreign minister declared: "It was not Iran that had deserted dialogue; it was America and the western countries that had repeatedly attempted to dictate their desires during the talks. Diplomacy can still be active and continues the primary answer to address disagreements, but its criteria, rules and tenets must be adhered to."

"If they address to the Iranian people with the approach of dignity and honor, they will receive a response in the same approach."

Restoration and Rebuilding

In what is portrayed by Tehran representatives as the struggle of restoration and reconstruction, Araghchi claimed he was confident Iran's military capacities "have significantly improved than preceding 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been rebuilt. We gained numerous insights from this engagement; we have discovered our personal limitations and the weaknesses of the adversary."

He stated: "We managed to survive this war. Our atomic expertise, which they planned to eliminate, continues to exist. The installations and machinery, if damaged, will be rebuilt; what is crucial is the determination of the Iranian people and then the unity of the country that they targeted, but failed to break. The Iranian people have grown stronger, more integrated, and more backing of the leadership and the nation in the aftermath of this attack."
