Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner before the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
