Much like bad weather hit the northern region the night before, Manchester City swept United aside at the Etihad. It was a convincing three-nil win for Andrée Jeglertz’s side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that truly announced their championship potential as they reinforced their place at the league summit.

Successive Setbacks for United

This scoreline represented successive league losses for Marc Skinner’s side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, placing them a significant margin off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions in serious doubt.

The Red Devils' capacity to balance domestic and European football with a small roster has been a widely debated subject since they qualified for the Champions League. Reviewing the schedule, it always appeared this was the week that would fully examine this fortitude.
